I don't remember a favorite saying. However, he loved to talk about baseball, particularly, the Dodgers. Once he told me the story of a scout for a professional team that came to look at one ball player and instead saw and signed Willie Mays.
The member who placed this information here had this to say about Robert
Robert Dancy was a quiet man. As a child, I asked my Grandfather: "What do you want me to be when I grow up, a doctor or a lawyer?" He replied, "a man".
Every person should be treated with dignity and respect regardless of one's age. He was willing to listen to children.
He worked on the rail road. He worked in the ore mines outside of Bessemer and later for U.S. Pipe Shop.
Robert Dancy was married to Corene Green Dancy. They had four children, John Robert, William, Louvenia Cooper, and Peacolia Barge.
Robert Dancy always voted Republican. He said it was the party of Lincoln, who freed the slaves. He was a Dodger fan, the team that signed Jackie Robinson.
He was a man of integrity, respected by all who knew him. When faced with the loss of his home through eminent domain, he and others retained legal counsel to fight against the action taking their home without fair compensation.
